Headline Details: The satellite is an aluminum cuboid of size 235 X 216 X 214 mm3 with an approximate mass of 12 kg. The APRS-DP payload is one of the missions of the joint satellite between the Government of India and the Royal Government of Bhutan. Bhutan is contributing an amateur APRS digipeater (APRS-DP) payload for the joint satellite. The primary mission objective of APRS-DP is to provide digital message relay service to the college students in Bhutan and to an amateur radio community at large. APRS-DP mission is aimed at promoting awareness of amateur radio communication and amateur satellites among the students and general public especially in Bhutan. 5.5 Explain in plain text how your mission(s) complies with provisions no. 1.56, 1.57 and 25 (see Annex 1); how will your mission contribute to the advancement of the amateur satellite service; and how will amateur operators around the globe be able to participate in your mission, besides just receiving the satellite telemetry? The similar APRS-DP payload has been flown in BIRDS-2 CubeSats (BHUTAN-1, MAYA-1 and UiTMSAT-1) built at Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan. However, BIRDS-2 CubeSats were not able to fully provide the digital message relay services. The APRS-DP payload is expected to be able to provide a digital message relay services to an amateur community. APRS-DP payload on the joint satellite will be turned on based on a predetermined schedule. Any amateur operator around the globe can receive messages from other operators and also transmit their messages to other operators directly by using their specific call sign or can broadcast their messages using CQ.
