Headline Details: A 1U CubeSat mission. A team of Burkina Faso researchers under the coordination of Norbert Zongo University of Koudougou is advancing a proposal to design, assemble, test, launch, deploy and operate a cubesat named Burkina Sat-1. The primary goal of the project is to develop a means for observing environment related large-scale phenomena such as the health of the vegetation, the expansion or contraction of the desert and the country geological features. The project also aims to support weather forecasting and pollution monitoring capabilities. The information gathered as part of this project would allow assessment of the agricultural capabilities and improve planning of water and mineral resource extraction. The project will also provide an opportunity to broaden the public interest in science and education thanks to the exciting nature of space programs. This project will first of all give an opportunity for us to build a formal Amateur Radio group . Then its will allow the group and others groups around the word to use the satellite for their amateur radio activities covering : - Transmitting and receiving signal from the satellite - Downloading images from the satellite - - Students from the University of Koudougou in full training on satellite equipment - Students from the University of Koudougou assembling satellite equipment A team of Burkina Faso researchers under the coordination of Norbert Zongo University of Koudougou is advancing a proposal to design, assemble, test, launch, deploy and operate a cubesat named Burkina Sat-1. The primary objective of the Burkina Sat 1 project is to promote amateur radio. We want to raise curious people who are constantly looking for information that will help them to get the most out of the potential of amateur radio. Thus, it is planned: - the creation of Ham radio Club at UNZ (Universite Norbert Zongo) to introduce students to amateur radio - The club will participate to international Ham radio activities like Field Day activity - Organization of a regular cycle of short conferences for the popularization of amateur radio in public and private universities and in some research centers of Burkina whose mission is to improve the understanding of telecommunication technologies and to extend to all the advantages of radiocommunications. - the creation of a contest of radio amateurism to create projects around radio amateurism and reward the best projects. The second goal of the project is to develop a means for observing environment related large-scale phenomena such as the health of the vegetation, the expansion or contraction of the desert and the country geological features.
