Headline Details: LilacSat-2 is a low-cost, approx 11kg 20x20x20cm, nano-satellite for education, amateur radio communication and technology demonstration, built by a team of 15 students of HIT. 5 of them are licensed radio amateurs. LilacSat-2 provides hands-on experience for students who would not otherwise have the opportunity to build flight hardware for a space mission. The training these students gain by working on this project will better prepare them for work in the aerospace industry. LilacSat-2 carries 4 mission payloads: 1. A V/U amateur radio SDR platform. It can be configured as an FM repeater or an APRS digipeater. It will also provide a VHF CW beacon and UHF 9k6 BPSK telemetry downlink 2. An SDR based multi-band receiver, for reception and decoding of signals from AIS, ADS-B, etc. 3. An FPGA software testing platform. 4. A thermal infrared camera. The lifetime of LilacSat-2 is expected to be 3 to 6 months. It is expected to launch into a 520x520km orbit with 97 degree inclination together with XW2. More info at http://www.by2hit.net/ and http://www.hit.edu.cn/ **Downlinks on 437.200 MHz for the beacon, 437.225 MHz for the FM/APRS and also uplinks on 145.825 & 145.875 MHz have been coordinated**
