| Headline Details: CHESS Pathfinder 0 (CP0) is the first satellite designed, built and operated by the EPFL Spacecraft Team, a student-led, non-profit association at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. The primary purpose of the mission is educational. CP0 gives Bachelor's and Master's students hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of a real spacecraft: requirements definition, subsystem design, integration, environmental testing, launch campaign and in-orbit operations. A secondary objective is to demonstrate in orbit the subsystems the team has developed in-house, building the technical maturity needed for the team's future missions. CP0 is a 3U CubeSat targeting a 475 km Sun-synchronous orbit. The payload is a single-photon avalanche diode (SPAD) camera. All communication with the spacecraft uses the UHF amateur-satellite allocation. The mission will use the student-built UHF station at EPFL in Switzerland, which is already connected to the SatNOGS network. Proposing a UHF downlink using GMSK at 25kbps. Planning a launch on a Kuaizhou-11 (KZ-11), operated by Expace on behalf of the China Aerospace Science & Industry Corporation (CASIC) into a 475 km polar orbit in Q4 2027. | ||||
