Headline Details: The Spinnaker3 payload is a 1U avionics box attached to a separate payload compartment containing a 4.24m x 4.24m dragsail, sized to deorbit the Firefly launch vehicle upper stage from LEO. The Spinnaker3 will remain attached to the upper stage through re-entry. As a secondary mission objective, Spinnaker3 will attempt to characterize the radiation environment in its orbit. The expected deorbit time after deployment of the sail is on the order of 25 days, and 86 days if the sail does not deploy. Frequency band is 435 – 438 MHz. This space mission is heavily educational and involves multiple undergraduate and graduate students from two universities (Purdue and Cal Poly) in collaboration. Students are expected to be responsible for scheduling and management as well as design, testing, and analysis of all components and subsystems that comprise the spacecraft. Proposing a 9k6 FSK UHF downlink with a 5 wpm CW preamble. Planning Firefly launch from Vandenberg into a 300 km circular polar orbit. **A downlink on 437.150 MHz has been coordinated** | ||||
