Headline Details: Amateur satellite built by students. PW-Sat2 satellite is going to have several experiments on-board and the mission goal is to perform technology demonstrations of the designed solutions. The main experiment – a 2 x 2 m deorbit sail will dramatically decrease the lifetime of the satellite’s orbit after mission end (planned 40 days). There will also be a custom designed Sun sensor aboard PW-Sat2, consisting of four specially aligned walls with ambient light sensors. Additionally, on-board Solar Arrays Deployment System, based on torsion springs, will open 2U Solar Panels to an angle of 90° along the longer axis of the satellite. Proposing a UHF 1k2-9k6 BPSK downlink using AX25. Planning a SpaceX launch from Vandenberg in Dec 2017.
