Headline Details: This is a 1U cubesat. The mission has three major parts: 1.- Pictures. PUCP-SAT-1 satellite will have two cameras, one to take pictures of the Earth and the second one to take self-portrait pictures of the satellite. The first camera will also try to take pictures of the deployment of second smaller satellite to be launched from within. 2.- Reaction wheels stabilization. Designed and implemented at our lab, this method will be tested in order to stabilize the satellite for picture taking. 3.- Launch of a smaller satellite. PUCP-SAT-1 will release a smaller satellite called Pocket-PUCP. This daughter satellite will carry a 10mW Morse code transmitter. Proposing a VHF downlink of 1k2 AFSK telemetry and a separate UHF receiver to listen for signals from Pocket-PUCP. Planning for a launch from Yasny into a 600+km sun syncronous orbit in Nov 2012.
