Headline Details: The objectives of the mission: 1) Training of post-graduate students in Satellite Systems Engineering. 2) HF beacon payload for characterization of Hermanus Magnetic Observatory’s Dual Auroral Radar Network antenna at SANAE base in Antarctica (14 MHz). No launch has been identified but planned for a polar orbt estimating Q3 2011 The spacecraft concept will conform to the 1U CubeSat standard with a maximum separated mass of 1 kg. It will be launched into a polar orbit at a height between 450 km and 650 km. The spacecraft will be 3-axis using a simple magnetic ADCS system developed by the University of Stellenbosch. The spacecraft’s TT&C system will operate in the 70 cm and 2m bands and will be commanded from the amateur ground station at CPUT.** The coordinated frequencies are beacon 14.099MHz, uplinks on 437.525 and 1260.25MHz and downlinks on 437.345 and 2405.00MHz** More info from http://active.cput.ac.za/fsati/public/index.asp | ||||
