Headline Details: A 3p PocketQube. The mission of Unicorn-2a is primarily a tech demo of an Optical payload, with 16m GSD. We will have a ground to LEO radio in the UHF amateur bands at 437 Mhz and 2.4ghz (both uplink and downlink) to receive telemetry beacons because the mission is so short, less than 45 days. Radio amateurs will benefit from this mission because: - challenges, we plan to run challenges with the HAM radio Community first to download an image from the sat, 1st text based/extended beacon, 1st person to track the sat in the southern hemisphere etc. open source GUI for the satellite will be available to all from AO’s internet site. This GUI allows for monitoring the health status of the satellite once the beacon has been tracked. Unicorn-2a is built/operated by a number of HAMs, including 2M0DSY, MM6XOM, and EA7KDU. They actively promote the Hobby and have given talks to clubs around Europe regarding the project encouraging participation in the field of Amateur satellites. - We are collaborating with the University of Aachen and their HAM radio group (DL0FHA) to trial U2-A operations and act as a backup. This helps students learn about talking to a real mission. Proposing a UHF downlink using 9k6 bps GFSK and at 2.4GHz using 200 kbps GMSK and LoRa at 38kbps. Planning a Q3 2018 launch into a 350 x 350 km 98 degree orbit on a Vector Space System launcher. Delfi-PQ is expected to be a fellow passenger. **Coordination has been declined in the absence of any amateur payload**
